LONE TREE IN THE TUSCAN COUNTRYSIDE

I photographed this scene in the Maremma countryside in Tuscany on a late summer afternoon, just before sunset, when the light had already begun to soften and the landscape seemed suspended in silence. A solitary tree stands in the open field as the only strong presence in a wide, understated space, rising against a pale sky and a distant horizon. I was drawn to the quiet balance between emptiness and form, and to the way the landscape could feel both real and almost remembered.

The composition is built on essential horizontal layers, with the field in the foreground, the airy middle distance, and the expansive sky stretching across the image like a luminous veil. The palette is restrained and atmospheric, shaped by softened greens, bright whites, and delicate greys that dissolve the contours of the scene. Rather than vivid color, I wanted a reduced chromatic field where light could become the true subject, giving the image a calm, airy, and contemplative quality.
