Original artwork description
A set of two original paintings framed and ready to hang.
These are from a series that I did based on a 10 day visit to the Hebridean island of Lewis last September.
The house was alongside a beautiful sea loch with the hills in the far distance framing the landscape. Although the heather was just about over, the orange and pale straw colours of the dried grasses together with the ochre seaweed were a perfect foil for the blues and greens found elsewhere. Bright sunny days added to the magic of the island.
The paintings are framed in a contemporary style called St Ives, after the famous group of artists living in that part of Cornwall in the earlier part of the 20th century.
The white painted wood offsets the colours in the artworks.
The paintings are shipped together wrapped in several protective layers before being placed in a sturdy cardboard box.
I always send my paintings by tracked courier for extra security.
