  • Biography
Hello. My name is Chrissie Havers. I have been painting for many years, using various mediums.. Mostly I am self taught, but did attend several art courses in Cambridge. I have exhibited in various galleries both local to me and also in London. I have also had work selected for the RWA Bristol. Last year my work was awarded the Royal Talens prize at the Artist Magazine exhibition held at Patchings Art Centre Notts. I am a member of Cambridge Open Studios and participate every july though not this year unfortunately! Living in a rural area the landscape is my main inspiration. Ever since I was a child, I felt a keen appreciation of a ‘view’. I was brought up in a country setting so this probably enforced that sense of admiration. Colour is the driving force in my work. I am not a representational painter, much more of a Colourist. I really enjoy putting together colour systems that ‘sing’. Landscape provides endless compositions for this experimenting. I also like painting Still Life subjects. In these paintings I find quite often that the brushstrokes become really descriptive. This enjoyment of brushstrokes, a simple thing, also informs my landscapes. I find that people always respond energetically to my use of colour -so I find my work speaks for itself in that way. Not many people query why I have painted a field red or blue when in reality it is green. The painting itself as a subject over-rides the ‘correct’ interpretation. I find that viewers enjoy the playful nature of the different colour system, and react positively.  Thankyou for looking at my artwork.
