Part of Alexander Levich’s Twenty Minutes of One Evening series, Little Town captures the fleeting experience of noticing a distant village through the side window of a moving car.

A cluster of red-roofed houses appears on the horizon, surrounded by open fields and an expansive sky. The landscape feels calm and familiar, yet subtle details reveal that it is being observed in motion. Rather than inviting the viewer into the village, the painting preserves the brief moment of seeing it from afar and continuing on the journey.

The work recalls aspects of lyrical landscape painting and artists such as Pierre Bonnard, whose paintings often blurred the boundary between observation and memory. Levich simplifies the scene and allows atmosphere, colour and space to communicate its emotional impact.
