A small but beautiful painting that emerged from a sketch for a very large canvas*. The subject is the last of the red coneflowers standing in the golden glow of the setting sun. The sinuous silhouettes of dead flowerheads, the intricate patterns of the dark leaves pointing down.

The painting is varnished and a wire for hanging is attached on the back
