I’ve been exploring the quiet atmosphere of Lindisfarne in this monotype, using translucent layers of ink to develop soft colours, reflections and a sense of depth. I wanted to suggest a calm morning with still water and gentle light across the landscape. Still Waters is part of my ongoing series of Lindisfarne variations. #Lindisfarne #Northumberland #Monotype #LandscapeArt

A monotype is a one-off hand-made print, just as unique as a painting. I used rollers and dabbers to spread out ink on a smooth plastic board then made marks with a cloth and other tools. The ink was transferred to the paper using a hand-operated printing press. I built up layers of over-lapping colous by printing several times.

The paper is 34 x 69cm and the image goes to the edges. This unique printed artwork could be flat mounted or window mounted.

Supplied unmounted/unframed, rolled in a wide, strong tube. (Framed images are shown for scale and context only - frame not included.)

Materials used:

Oil-based artist quality ink on Rives BFK cotton rag paper
