This monotype is another exploration of Lindisfarne, using layers of translucent ink to create soft colours, reflections and atmospheric depth. I was drawn to the stillness of the water and the gentle light of dawn, keeping the scene calm and understated. Dawn’s Soft Light is part of my ongoing series of Lindisfarne variations. #Lindisfarne #Northumberland #Monotype #LandscapeArt

A monotype is a one-off hand-made print, just as unique as a painting. I used rollers and dabbers to spread out ink on a smooth plastic board then made marks with a cloth and other tools. The ink was transferred to the paper using a hand-operated printing press. I built up layers of over-lapping colous by printing several times.

The paper is 34 x 69cm and the image goes to the edges. This unique printed artwork could be flat mounted or window mounted.

Supplied unmounted/unframed, rolled in a wide, strong tube. (Framed images are shown for scale and context only - frame not included.)

Materials used:

Oil-based artist quality ink on Rives BFK cotton rag paper
