Original artwork description
The textures of this painting are layered and rich. They were created by repeated passes of thin and thick paint. It is this approach that, as a result, gives a complete sense of the materiality and naturalism of the objects we see. The houses of Venice are picturesque in themselves, and conveying this unique “picture of time” is not an easy task for an artist. We have to invent a whole technology, a certain sequence of actions, so that in the end the viewer feels the truth of the master’s statement.
