Inspired by the character Dr Lilith Ritter, psychologist, played by Cate Blanchett in Guillermo Del Toro's 2021 version of Nightmare Alley. A fantastic dark tale based on the 1947 novel by William Lindsay Gresham. #Humanfreakshow
The film particularly appealed to me in terms of the human story, the cinematography and the style which is stunning.
The painting exploits the conventions of cinematography by using close-ups, heavy cropping and saturated colour or strong lighting to create atmosphere; added to this is a gestural paint technique giving movement and immediacy to the image.

The painting is on a deep edge canvas.
