Original artwork description:

In this artwork, I use washi, calligraphy, recycled, and handmade Japanese papers, along with natural indigo, ink, and glue on an MDF board coated with UV Protection varnish.
This artwork is a diptych.
Inspired by Delfts blauw ceramics, this sustainable art project elevates ancient craft techniques. Exploring blue pigment nuances and employing the Shibori technique on various papers, including 300-year-old handmade Japanese papers, I create multi-layered textures symbolizing the limitless sky and ocean depths. The artworks serve as windows to alternate worlds, emphasizing a borderless connection between sky and ocean on our shared Blue planet. Le Grand Bleu showcases the best of different worlds, incorporating ancient crafts within a sustainable context, prompting reflection on our environmental relationship.

Materials used:

washi, calligraphy, recycled, handmade Japanese papers, natural indigo, ink, glue on board, coated with UV Protection varnish
