Last Winter
The sunset colours,
A quiet place,
To walk in contemplation,
Forest and grasses,
Wild and beautiful.

Words and past memories of a landscape I can’t wait to explore again soon. Inspired by Rempstone heath, Dorset.
Original impressionist watercolour on Saunders Waterford 300gsm 140 cold pressed.
I used a wet on wet technique on high quality watercolour paper. Mixing different washes and applying the base coats with a small Chinese hake. Then I used a filbert for the texture - patterns in the sunset sky when the paper was dry. The same happened with the landscape for the subtle detail. I had to use my visual memory and imagination to create this original watercolour painting.

Materials used:

Cold pressed watercolour paper Saunders Waterford 300gsm 140lb, Windsor and Newton watercolours, filbert brush, Chinese hake brush, sable hair brush.
