Original artwork description
I've been lucky enough to spend much of this summer in France, at a rustic Charentaise farmhouse full of inspiring things and a charming garden. The equivalent of a sweetie shop to an artist! The old garden table, beneath the shade of the faded yellow parasol, provided the perfect arena for many lazy lunches and suppers - a scene I just had to capture in canvas. Use of a palette knife, to introduce a small degree of texture, adds both depth and interest. It seemed appropriate, that I use an old, but previously unused, canvas which had been removed from it's stretchers, hence the old staple marks around the edge. These will be hidden once the canvas is re-stretched, which a framer will do when you have it framed.
This painting is sold unframed (and un stretched) but is suitable to do so should you wish. I do not varnish my paintings , as I prefer the slightly chalky look of the oils as laid down. If you would like it varnished before sending, I can do so at no extra cost.
The painting is signed, dated and titled on the reverse and initialled on the front.
I ship internationally using an insured, tracked and signed for service. Please note that payment of import duty/tax is the responsibility of the buyer.
