Artist Impressions:
This is my favourite etude from the summer Plein air in Rostov Velikiy (Russia) in 2016. Although this view of Lake Nero has nothing to do with Levitan, the relief, perspective, humble houses, and the old Russian monastery in the background constantly reminded me of the motives that inspired the great Russian artist. Subsequently, based on this sketch, I created a large painting. Still, I managed to convey a living sense of a place and its state in full only in this small work.
