In shades of reddish copper, gold, dark blue, red, teal blue, it depicts a portrait of a dark-haired woman with a round face and light eyes, with ears shaped like golden butterflies. In ancient Greece, the goddess Psyche was the symbol of the human soul and its ability to transform and achieve spiritual growth, hence her occasional depiction with butterfly wings.
The reliefs were worked with a knife.
