The idea of a painting with a model in bright light came to me while watching a tv programme about the Cannes festival where I saw a top model posing for a photo shoot at the 'croisette'. I imagined the contrast that would make putting her image beside the one of a casually dressed guy, totally unaware of her. A lunch brake came to my mind as the perfect situation to match the two characters.
