Kiyomizu-zaka, Kyoto (c. 2009) (2009) Original Watercolour by Masato Watanabe

25 x 36 x 0.05cm (unframed) / 25 x 36cm (actual image size)

£356.98

In this painting, I captured the tranquil twilight moment on Kiyomizu-zaka around 2009, the historic approach leading up to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto.
As day turned into evening, I was struck by the deep blue gradient of the sky punctuated by a faint moon overhead, contrasting with the warm glow from the traditional shopfronts along the sloped street. By laying down smooth watercolor washes for the sky and painting detailed shadows on the pavement, I aimed to convey the quiet, nostalgic magic of Kyoto at dusk.
