KINGDOM BENEATH THE BLUE
This piece went through a truly fascinating transformation. I originally began working in landscape format, using only my hands as direct painting tool, just as I had done with previous works. While I was partly satisfied with the result, something felt off. It took me quite some time to realize that the painting might want to be seen as a square.
As a first step, I masked off the 120 x 160 cm canvas with tape to visualize it as a 120 x 120 cm square.
And… it was perfect!
In the pics you can see both versions: first the taped-off landscape format, then the final square composition.
As with my previous works, the creative process of painting solely with my hands was something truly special and deeply satisfying. The direct connection with the emerging piece, the traces left by fingers and gestures, feels like a very sensitive dialogue at the moment. This work is again monochromatic, with the focus placed entirely on the details, the lines, the marks.
