This a portrait of trumpet jazzman, band leader and composer, Miles Davis. Leader of the Miles Davis Quintet. Miles is widely considered one of the most influential and innovative musicians of the 20th century, On December 15, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a symbolic resolution recognizing and commemorating the album Kind of Blue on its 50th anniversary, "honoring the masterpiece and reaffirming jazz as a national treasure". Kind of Blue is one of the most popular jazz recordings of all times. It was also the title of on of the group’s albums that sold over four million copies. Kind of Blue is what I chose for the title of this painting. It seemed obvious that it should lean toward shades of blue.
