Original artwork description
Keys lie on the surface of the painting — heavy, physical, familiar to the hand. Once, they opened doors and guarded the boundary between the private and the outside world. Now their metal is carved with the symbols of social networks — the new signs of access.
These symbols replace locks. They make no sound, require no touch, yet open far more than doors ever could. Modern social platforms know more about us than we can remember ourselves: our habits, fears, desires, paths, and pauses. They hold a memory from which there is no turning away.
In “Keys to Life”, the key ceases to be an object and becomes a metaphor. It is no longer a tool of freedom, but a carrier of knowledge and control. Life is no longer unlocked by us — it is read.
The painting poses a question: who holds the keys to our memory, our identity, our lives today?
