Original artwork description
I like to find a use for discarded materials that people give me or that I find in my studio.. This painting was made entirely from old recycled plastic bags and packaging, much of which could not be recycled in the usual way.
I heat-fused pieces of these materials to each-other. By holding the heat source over certain areas for longer than others, parts of the artwork melt to become unrecognisable from their original source. Some of the bags were printed with various suggestions of how to re-use them, but I feel that by incorporating them into an artwork, they will have a new and longer landfill-free life.
