To capture successful reflection images like this requires specific conditions - little wind, the sun in the right direction and at the right height, mostly calm water. But on top of this the water needs 'something' to create a slight, localized disturbance; it needs to be moving, just not too much. After years of experience I have found that ducks, seagulls, jumping fish, small boats, a minor earthquake in a neighboring country, are highly suitable water agitators. Sometimes, if I can do it without getting arrested, I will throw stones or bits of wood into the water to create my own ripples.

The ripples here were caused by a seagull. That small bird caused a big disturbance which transformed this scene from a boring mirror image of the yachts at rest, to something way more interesting and abstract.

I have the seagull's address and bank details. It is on 10% of the sale price.
