Original artwork description
Is There Still Room for Hope?
Is it smoke or clouds?
This diptych explores the uncertainty of perception in times of violence. The same image contains two incompatible realities: devastation and renewal. Nothing changes except the viewer's gaze.
The city appears as a fading imprint, fragmented into repetitive marks that resemble pixels, braille, or traces of memory. It exists on the threshold between presence and disappearance. Above it, dark formations suspend the narrative. They could be the smoke of a burning city, or clouds gathering before rain.
The work does not offer optimism. Instead, it questions the mechanisms through which hope survives. Sometimes hope is not found in reality itself, but in the human capacity to continue reading the future differently — even when the evidence suggests otherwise.
The diptych leaves the answer unresolved.
Is it smoke? Or is it clouds?
Is there still room for hope?
