Series: Comfort Zone
Title: Innocent Lie
Size: 30 × 30 × 2 cm
Materials: oil on canvas
Year: 2026

Innocent Lie explores the subtle boundary between protection and self-deception. As a continuation of the reflection on truth and its perception, this work forms the second part of a diptych: where truth was once exposed, here it is softened, distorted, and made bearable.

The figure is presented fragmentarily, without a face, reinforcing its universality. The body is closed in posture, with arms creating a sense of both shelter and restriction. This gesture carries a dual meaning: an attempt to protect oneself while simultaneously holding something inside, preventing it from surfacing.

Unlike the direct vulnerability of Naked Truth, the tension here is quieter, more concealed. A lie does not разрушает instantly — it envelops, offering the illusion of safety. It creates a softened version of reality, where boundaries blur and inner conflict becomes less visible, yet still present.

The color palette is built on deep, dark tones — black, dark brown, umber — with soft, warm transitions — ochre, muted gold, soft bronze, skin tones. The light is diffused; it does not expose the form but gently smooths it, enhancing the feeling of inner shelter and silence.

Within the Comfort Zone series, the work raises a question: where is the line between self-care and avoidance of truth? Is an “innocent lie” a way to maintain inner balance — or the beginning of a gradual disconnection from oneself?
