Incoming Tide is a realist oil painting on gesso panel , 20 x 16 inches (approx 50 x 40cm).
Inspired by visits to the Suffolk coast town of Southwold, Christopher Witchall continues his preoccupation with the movement and colours of the ocean, a movement frozen in time between the ancient past and an endless future.
The artist’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.
Awash is signed on the back and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
