Original artwork description:

This piece is part of a series I’ve called “In the Wake.” Every day, I cross this bridge and look down at the water, watching boats emerge from beneath my feet. On sunny days, Amsterdam’s canals are alive with boats of every size and shape.
It was only during the process of painting that I began to understand what I was actually exploring — something about shimmering water, rhythm (I started taking drum lessons during lockdown), and a return to my graphic design roots.
Even my abstract works stem from the same source as my figurative paintings: my immediate surroundings and everyday life.
Some days I envy the people on those boats, basking in the sun and cooling off on the water. Other days I resent them for the foul smell of their engines and the noise they make. Let’s just say they fascinate me. ;)
NOTE: This work can stand on its own, but since it’s part of a series, you might consider purchasing more than one piece. If so, please contact me for a discount.

Materials used:

3D-canvas, oilpaints and cold wax medium, brushes, palette knives and scrapers
