My self-portrait in dark tones. I titled it "In the Shadow."
Evening silence, the scattered remnants of light from the window.
The scent of peonies. The lulling rustle of trees in the wind.
Summer entered the room and brought a sense of calm.
This portrait is painted in acrylic on cotton canvas.
Broad brushstrokes and flowing patches of color create a feeling of ease and spontaneity.
Pink accents applied with a palette knife add expression and character.
The flowers—peonies—are painted in a nearly abstract way, as if seen out of the corner of your eye.
