In the poppies
Sunrise shades,
Peach and uplifting yellow,
The deep red poppies,
In my dream,
Always wishing for more poppy meadows.

Words and thoughts.
I used my imagination and visual memory to create this poppyscape in watercolour. I painted this for an art demonstration recently.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford.
Wet on wet washes were applied with a Chinese hake brush for the sky and poppy meadow backdrop. I then used my sable hair brush and pressed the poppies on over wet paper. I gradually shaped the poppies as the paper started to dry going over the flowers to infuse the deep red poppy colour. I then used a Chinese brush spacing out the bristles, pressing the paint into the brush and pressing , dragging and dabbing onto the damp paper around the poppies to get the grasses and texture of detail.
