Original artwork description
In the summer of 2023 I had the opportunity to see an exhibition of a Venezuelan artist called Carlos Cruz-Diez. The exhibition took place in a gallery called Galleria Continua in San Gimignano, Italy. The artist's works had a profound impact on me. His works are about colours and how we experience them. His works are very calculated and almost scientific in his approach. He is one of the pioneers of kinetic art. This was my first time seeing his work in a gallery even though I’m from Venezuela as well. This piece is a reaction to and/or inspired by the exhibition. Even though colour is primordial in my work this is the very first work I created where the piece is strictly about colours and the interaction between them.
