Original artwork description:

I'm Alive - Ancient Mariner Watercolour Original

Dimensions 34x24cm- 9.5x13.5 inches - portrait format.
It is un-matted and un-framed.

The ill-fated, innocent albatross ressurects in this original watercolour of the statue of the Ancient Mariner on Watchet harbour, Somerset, England.

Feel the poignancy of the mariner's wretched face as he cradles the shot albatross in his hand - cross bow in the other. The noose around his neck binds him to the bird he killed but behind them another incarnation of the it glides strongly behind them - giving hope for redemption.

I painted this over a week or so using 100% Two Rivers 100% cotton paper. The paper is actually also made at East Quay where the statue is situated.

Many layers were applied to add the folds to the drapery of the mariner's clothes and body. A turbulent slice of sky tells the tale of disquiet that the mariner's actions provoked.

Enjoy this one of a kind painting in your home as a salute to hope.

Thanks for looking at this original.
