Artwork description:

Ilkley rooftops to the cow & calf - 2016

This print captures a classic Yorkshire view—looking out across Ilkley’s Victorian rooftops toward the iconic Cow and Calf rock formation perched high on Ilkley Moor.

The Cow and Calf, made up of a large outcrop and a smaller boulder, gets its name from their side-by-side positioning—though not everyone sees the resemblance! Ilkley Moor itself is steeped in local character, most famously celebrated in the Yorkshire folk song “On Ilkla Moor Baht ’at.”

Printed by hand in 12 colours, this screen print layers soft architectural lines and moorland textures with rich, earthy tones. It’s printed on A1-sized paper (100 x 70cm) in a limited edition of just 17, each one signed and numbered on the front.

A piece full of northern charm, history, and hillside air—ideal for anyone with a connection to Ilkley, or a love of landscapes with a story.

Materials used:

Italian Canaletto Bianco 300gms paper, Acrylic paint
