Original artwork description
From the series Cities of the Wind
Originally painted in 2016 and revisited in 2026, Igrejinha (Revisited) brings together two moments of my artistic practice within a single work.
Part of the Cities of the Wind series, it explores architecture as something alive rather than static. Houses bend, lean and sway, creating an imagined landscape where memory reshapes the built environment. Inspired by the atmosphere of historic Brazilian towns, these places exist somewhere between observation and imagination.
Rather than repainting the work, I returned to it ten years later with the perspective that only time can offer. Delicate interventions in acrylic, gouache and ink subtly enriched the original composition while preserving its character and history.
This painting carries both the energy of its first creation and the quiet maturity of a second encounter, making it a unique dialogue between my past and present artistic vision.
