In creating this piece, I tapped into the raw, visceral emotions of struggle and resilience. The muted palette and gesture imply both emergence and dissolution, hinting at the ephemeral nature of human endeavors and the perpetual strive for transcendence. The drips and abstract elements suggest imperfection and the gritty texture of reality, while the overall composition elevates the narrative to a symbolic quest for hope and redemption.
This is an acrylic semi-abstract figurative painting on a textured stretched canvas. It is a diptych work and is part of a cycle about the myth of Icarus and was included in an exhibition held in 2018 titled "Directions Beyond... Myth And Modernity".
The work measures 100 x 60 x 2 cm. The edges are painted grey and it's ready to hang. The painting is lacquered with protective varnish.
