Based on the painting by J M Waterhouse, this is a contemporary take on a classic painting and a classic myth. Hylas was one of the seafaring Argonauts, sent inland to fetch some water from a pool; he was a famously beautiful youth, and the water nymphs cajoled and lured him into their domain. His shipmates came looking for him, but he was never seen again.
