Original artwork description
Hope Valley Morning (2025)
Original Oil Painting | Peak District Landscape | Framed and Ready to Hang
Sunlight breaking across rolling hills inspired this small original oil painting, created after a morning spent overlooking Hope Valley in the Peak District. While others headed underground to explore nearby caves, I stayed above ground with sketchbook and paints, drawn to the wide view and shifting light across the landscape.
Working in oil allowed me to build colour slowly, layering greens, blues and warm highlights to capture the freshness of early morning air. Expressive brushwork and strong colour relationships give movement to the hills, balancing energy with a sense of quiet calm.
Small square paintings have a particular intimacy — they invite closer looking. This piece works beautifully in a reading corner, hallway, kitchen wall or grouped with other artworks as part of a gallery display.
Presented in a dark wood frame with gold trim, the painting is ready to hang and enjoy immediately.
