Artist's description:

I spent many years painting this complex painting which i started after my first visit to New York in 1985. I think I was a bit in love with the city of towers before i went and was totally smitten with the Chrysler Building. I walked around looking up at the many windows that reflected the sky and other buildings and was always aware of the blue rivers to the East and West sides. There was an energy streaming along the streets of people and traffic, running in the grid like patterns broken up spasmodically by broadway and the vertical Buildings were interspersed by curving lines of Art Deco and the bold geometric bridges.I painted Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda in their Tower as symbolic of the American Dream and did a word play inspired by him. I thought of the former indigenous native Americans that inhabited Manhattan and painted one infiltrating a tower of the Waldorf Astoria. Also i painted ghostly totem poles within the buildings. I loved the look of Concorde and painted it between some of the high sky scrapers. The painting has an apocalyptic look and i painted it before 9/11.
