Original artwork description
Small ink and colour wash drawing of the landscape outside Dumfries, Scotland. A day trip that ended up becoming a drawing. The hills south of Dumfries have a softness and a pastoral quality that is quite different from the rugged and wild Scottish landscapes further north, and I was interested in trying to get at that gentleness without making it sentimental. The drawing was done first using ink applied with rough tools, and the colour was added later.
