In late summer and autumn wild heather adorns the Ashdown Forest. This painting describes the wild grasses and heather at the top of a climb where pine trees start to peek into view. I like the unusual perspective of looking upwards in this composition and the burst of pink and chalky path in the foreground. The painting is set in a white painted wood frame with a shadow gap between the canvas and frame.
