This atmospheric abstract landscape is inspired by the quiet beauty of Orkney, in the far north of Scotland. Orkney is a landscape shaped by water, rolling hills, and gentle light. I am drawn to its muted tones and the way sunlight rests softly on the land, with nothing sharp or jarring to the senses. This image reflects that feeling — a place where the eye can slow and the mind can rest.

The scene was found in an unremarkable, unnamed place, which is often where I discover the most compelling compositions. The contrast between pale blue water and distant fields of golden grass caught my attention and held it. These are landscapes that feel timeless, unchanged for centuries, where colour and form seem constant and enduring.
