Gun Greenery (2025)Gouache painting by Alison Fennell
30 x 21cm (unframed) / 30 x 21cm (actual image size)
£200
Original artwork description
Gun Greenery - an original acrylic gouache painting of an antique French Naval Percussion Pistol surrounded by trailing nastursium leaves and flowers.
It is 30cm wide x 21ch high.
For the gun lover this is a unique painting. I adored taking my time with the gorgeous wooden curves of the pistol's body - such old shiny wood. Then the metalwork needed to be very nuanced to show of its smoothness and curves as the light hit it. I wanted to convey the exquisite craftsmanship that went into creating this gun probably around 1850.
It has the word Chatellerault engraved very finely on the metal flank - a town in France where a weapons factory was awarded a royal decree in 1819.
If you are fond of militaria and guns and weapons this would be an unusual addition to your home gallery.
Thanks for considering an original.
