Artwork description
I know it has been a long time since Greta Garbo’s films were considered fashionable. Even when I was a child, they already carried that old-fashioned black-and-white charm of a long-vanished, luxurious Hollywood era. One film in particular stayed with me—Camille, based on the novel La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas fils—with its morbid yet lush 1930s atmosphere.
For these two prints, both centered on camellias as their main motif, I drew inspiration from the mood of this film adaptation. The images have therefore taken on a slightly somber and melancholic tone—the fate of the Lady of the Camellias was, after all, a tragic one. Nevertheless, the focus remains on the unique allure of this fascinating blossom: its striking visual presence as well as its delicate, sensitive nature.
Hand-signed and numbered fine art print on Canson Arches Aquarelle Rag paper—a high-end, 100% cotton inkjet fine art paper designed to emulate the look and feel of traditional watercolor paper. It has a slightly textured surface and a matte finish.
Print size: 20 × 28 cm, plus 2 cm white border
