Golden Summer Evening (2026) Original Oil Painting by Andrii Kovalyk

Part of my Summer Memories series, this painting reflects a deeply romantic chapter of my life and memories from my travels through southern Spain. Inspired by Gibraltar, it captures the warm evening atmosphere, the sea, palm trees, and figures along the shore — fragments of a summer moment preserved in paint.

The work is created using a technique inspired by pointillism. I first covered the entire surface with a golden ground, then gradually built the image with thousands of small, textured brushstrokes, allowing fragments of gold to remain visible between them.

As the light and viewing angle change, the gold shifts from bright and luminous to deeper tones, creating a shimmering, almost mosaic-like effect across the surface.
