Inspired by the sun-drenched, tense atmosphere of Jacques Deray’s cult film "La Piscine" (The Swimming Pool with Alain Delon), "Girl with Boombox" balances exotic beauty with a subtle hint of psychological anxiety. I wanted to create a poetic scene wrapped in a cinematic, thriller-like suspense.

The composition pairs a serene, glowing figure in the water with a vintage boombox resting on the edge—a deliberate nod to the late 1970s New Wave movement and the cold, experimental textures of David Bowie and Brian Eno's Berlin Trilogy. Set against an indigo, overcast sky and a calm but mysterious sea, the vivid pink towel and scattered fruits anchor the foreground. Through fluid, expressive acrylic layers, the canvas captures a strange, suspended moment. It is an exploration of isolation, sensory nostalgia, and the quiet friction between paradise and underlying dread.
