Garden at Dusk (2025) Original Oil Painting by Pooja Verma
60 x 80 x 4cm / 60 x 80cm (actual image size)
£1,198.19
Original artwork description
"Gardeb at Dusk" comes from my evening walks through gardens and along the water, ending at that strange blue hour when it is almost blue, but not dark yet. The trees outside the water seem to grow again inside it - their reflections becoming another, darker version of themselves.
There are layers in this work, but they are not simply layers of paint. They are secrets and mysteries. Even the blues hold many blues within them. You notice one from a distance; another reveals itself when you come closer. Most of the time, I can not even explain what a painting looks like. And perhaps I don’t want to. I want you or viewer to stand in front of it and see what you/they find. I created the entire surface using palette knives, allowing constrast marks and varying textures to emerge as the work developed.
The foundation is made with acrylic and various textural materials, followed by final layers of oil paint. The interplay between the two mediums, combined with the palette-knife technique, creates a surface that feels both atmospheric and tactile, revealing different nuances as the light changes.
This work is part of my “WaterGarden” collection, which explores the relationship between water, reflection, light, and nature.
