France – Paris Roofs Ink Landscape (2024) Original Painting by Juliart

70 x 50cm (unframed)

"France" came into existence as a deeply emotional tribute to Paris, which is my absolute favorite city in the world. This artwork is a key piece within my landscape series, "The places of my heart". I have always been profoundly fascinated by the secret soul of Paris that reveals itself when you look at it from above—away from the crowded, chaotic streets. Inspired by the view from the city's windows, where the iconic, melancholic silhouettes of classic zinc roofs and chimneys frame the distant Eiffel Tower, I felt a visceral urge to paint this landscape. I wanted to translate the solid European architecture into the fluid, atmospheric, and breathing language of traditional Japanese ink (Sumi-e), pouring my personal love for this city onto the paper.
