Fading Trace (2025) Monoprint by Andrii Kovalenko

63 x 44 x 0.1cm (unframed)

£479.93

This work is part of the project Fragments of Memory and reflects a state in which memory begins to lose its clarity, shifting into a field of sensations and fragmented residues.

The composition is built within a nearly monochromatic, deep environment, where form appears to submerge into space and partially dissolve within it. The central mass reads not as a presence, but as a remnant — a trace of something that has already occurred. It does not dominate the composition, but rather recedes into the background.

Texture plays a crucial role: instead of describing form, it disrupts it, transforming it into a surface of memory. Scratches, layers, and muted color transitions function as markers of time — as processes of erasure rather than preservation.

Within the context of Fragments of Memory, this work approaches memory as a medium in which images do not remain intact, but gradually disappear, leaving behind only a shadow of presence.

“Fading Trace” captures the moment when memory can no longer be fully recalled, yet has not completely vanished.

About
I approach art as a meditative process, where the emergence of form is as important as the final result. My work is a dialogue between materials, textures, and surfaces, allowing... Read more
