Original artwork description
An original mixed media painting made with acrylic, mirrors, rhinestones and collage elements.
“Fragments of a living planet” is a contemporary mixed-media artwork that explores the connections between nature, water, life, and the universe itself.
The Earth, placed near the center of the composition, acts as the emotional and symbolic heart of the artwork. Around it unfold fragments of different worlds: a tranquil mountain lake, lush green valleys, a glowing sunset over water, and the graceful movement of a koi fish swimming through currents of color and light. Each image represents a unique aspect of life, but together they form a larger whole—just as individual experiences, memories, and ecosystems are interconnected within the living fabric of our planet.
This artwork reflects a distinctly contemporary way of seeing the world. Modern life often feels fragmented—our attention divided between places, experiences, memories, and digital realities. The artist transforms this idea into visual language through a complex structure of geometric forms, layered images, and reflective surfaces.
The composition suggests that reality is not experienced as one complete image but as a collection of moments, impressions, emotions, and memories. The mirrors and geometric fragments act like pieces of consciousness, windows into different dimensions of existence. They invite the viewer to assemble their own narrative from the visual fragments presented before them.
In this sense, the artwork becomes both a landscape and a philosophical reflection on perception itself. It asks us to consider how individual pieces—whether memories, places, people, or ecosystems—combine to create a greater whole.
What makes this work genuinely contemporary is not only its visual style but its conceptual approach. Rather than depicting a single scene, the artist creates a layered dialogue between realism and abstraction, nature and geometry, emotion and structure.
The artwork combines traditional painting with collage, reflective materials, dimensional elements, and mixed-media techniques. The interplay of fragmented imagery, symbolic motifs, and reflective surfaces speaks to modern themes of interconnectedness, environmental awareness, memory, identity, and perception—central subjects within contemporary art today.
As light moves across the surface, the mirrors, pearlescent details, and rhinestones catch and reflect it, allowing the artwork to change throughout the day. These shifting reflections create a dynamic visual experience and add depth beyond the painted imagery.
This statement artwork is particularly suited for contemporary interiors, modern luxury homes, designer living rooms, executive offices, creative studios, boutique hotels, wellness and spa spaces, coastal and resort-inspired interiors, eclectic and art-focused collections.
Its vibrant colors and architectural composition allow it to function both as a sophisticated focal point and as a conversation piece.
