Following The Sun (2025)

"The landscape is not a place, but a state of light. This work is a study of the golden hour’s defiance against a gathering Baltic storm."

The Formal Composition: This 130 x 120 cm piece is a sophisticated exploration of the Blinkered method, where the vastness of the Polish coastline is distilled into a rigorous, horizontal geometry. The composition is built around a central, incandescent band of ochre and gold, representing the final grip of sunlight before the atmospheric pressure of the storm takes hold.

The Musical Cipher: In line with Olek’s practice of "sonic puzzles," the title Following The Sun serves as a cryptic link to a musical reference. It is not a mere label but a structural component of the work—a lyric or a mood that dictated the rhythmic application of the paint. The viewer is invited to decode this auditory layer to fully grasp the painting’s internal tempo.

Materiality & Surface: Executed on 3D linen canvas, the work possesses a high degree of tactile depth. Using unconventional DIY tools, Olek builds a "kaleidoscopic" surface where dozens of glazes interact to create a flickering light effect. This complex layering ensures that the painting shifts in character depending on the ambient light of the room, making it a dynamic centerpiece for a contemporary interior.
