Fog under the Ocean
When we evacuated from Ukraine with our three children at the beginning of the war, destiny brought us to a small town called Wimereux, in the north of France. We lived right on the seashore — next to the mighty ocean, both severe and breathtakingly beautiful.
This ocean had a very special character: unbelievably gorgeous, yet cold even in the hottest summer days. Almost no one swam there — it was too sharp, too unpredictable. And yet, thousands of tourists came just to admire it, to breathe it in, to feel its energy.
We wanted to capture this atmosphere — cold, foggy, yet mysteriously enchanting. That is how the painting “Fog under the Ocean” was born: a vision of the stern ocean that at the same time frightens and fascinates, pushes away and makes you fall in love with it forever.
The artwork is 100 x 100 cm (1 x 1 meter), absolutely unique — the only one of its kind. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and is ready to hang.
The authors are winners of numerous international art competitions and a world-renowned exhibition. Their works are also represented in museums of France, Switzerland, and Ukraine, and are part of prestigious private collections.
🎨 Color Palette
Warm sandy and light tones
Golden beige, soft brown, and ochre shades resemble rays of sunlight breaking through the morning mist.
They bring warmth and balance to the colder colors, creating harmony.
Cold ocean accents
Deep navy, dark blue, and greyish-blue tones reflect the severity and coldness of the ocean.
These hues create a sense of depth, strength, and unpredictability.
Milky and misty shades
White, soft grey, and pearly tones evoke the effect of fog dissolving above the waves.
They add airiness and mystery to the painting.
Contrast of light and darkness
Bright highlights clash with deep shadows, creating a dramatic yet balanced contrast.
This enhances the sense of movement and life within the ocean.
Nuance and layering
Gentle transitions between shades create a watercolor-like effect, where one element melts into another.
The painting seems to “breathe,” thanks to the constant interplay between warm and cold tones.
✨ The palette can be described as a union of the ocean’s cold, stern beauty with the soft warmth of light — a balance that carries both drama and hope, even in the foggiest of days.
