Lately I have been exploring cloud painting. I became inspired by this new subject after moving to the country from London, where suddenly there were much more open skies. Clouds are also an incredibly popular image on social media and with the rise of more sophisticated cameras on smartphones and the use of filters people are able to create artistic effects easily and prolifically. I wanted to explore the idea of painting in the high contrast/soft focus style of Lomo photography. I am painting realistic images, using relatively few colours, which capture the tranquillity of clouds and twist the colours of nature slightly in a similar way to the art style filters.
