Original artwork description
Painted on location in the garden of an old Charentaise farmhouse, this painting has become a favourite of mine. The ageing climbing rose was in glorious bloom against an old stone wall. And nestled amid the riot of colour, a bird cage, its vintage bars gently rusting to an attractive patina, belying it's former jail-like use. The captive bird had long since flown.
The use of a palette knife introduces minimal texture and a contemporary vibe to an evocative painting.
This painting is sold unframed but please note there are some smudges of paint around the sides so it would benefit from framing. I do not varnish my paintings , as I prefer the slightly chalky look of the oils as laid down. If you would like it varnished before sending, I can do so at no extra cost.
The painting is signed, dated and titled on the reverse and initialled on the front.
I ship internationally using an insured, tracked and signed for service. Please note that payment of import duty/tax is the responsibility of the buyer.
